- Use SlIRP or TIA for PPP/Slip emulation on your Unix shell account, get
- FreePPP,MacPPP, or InterSlip for use with Sys 7.5's MacTCP. Do not mix the
- Silp/PPP together on Mac, use either/or. I have used all and recommend
- Slirp/FreePPP/MacTCP combo.
-
- The rest will be in configuring MacTCP and FreePPP's software correctly. See
- if you can get the info for your IP (Internet Provideor) nameservers, newsservers
- ect. (You might have this from Amiga use if you do mail/news on it.
-
- Read all the Slirp docs, I had it running a long time ago but I forgot what
- the PPP settings it wants and also the command syntax to get Slirp doing PPP.
- (Slirp -baud -P ???)
-
- Use something like Zterm to ftp&zmodem from your shell account the Mac Programs
- or transfer from the Amiga. You can get slirp set up on shell using Amiga as
- it's only used on the Unix side.
- If your modem has AT&D0 set and saved (AT&W), you can log in with Zterm, get Unix
- running Slirp, then quit Zterm and work on configing FreePPP (after setting MacTCP
- and crossing your fingers). Once you seem to have this much working, you can work
- on FreePPP's dial script to eliminate the Zterm login.
-
- (Note: the AT&D0 keeps the modem from dropping carrier when Zterm is quit)
-
- Good luck!
